Our grapes come from the finest and most storied vineyards in the Oakville AVA on the floor of the Napa Valley at the base of the Mayacamas mountain range. Beckstoffer To Kalon experiences warm daytime temperatures influenced by early morning and late evening fog. The clay loam soil drains well and does not retain nutirents well, keeping the vines under stress resulting in smaller more concentrated fruit. This results in a wine that is powerfule and structured yet silky. Beckstoffer Vineyard X is another great vineyard from Andy Beckstoffer. On the cooler end of Oakville, near the To Kalon vineyard, Vineyard X is planted with Cabernet in deep, well-drained soils. Most of the vineyard is planted to the same clones and rootstock found at To Kalon. The vineyard produces wines with dark cherry, cassis, a hint of cabernet herbaciousness and excellent structure for aging.

Our winemakers work closely with the vineyard managers to determine the optimal harvest time, closely monitoring the fruit and testing sugar and phenolics.  At the exact right time the grapes are harvested and the winemaking process begins.
